Allen’s Barber Shop

Manley & Allen’s Barbershop was located at 6 Federal St. in Akron in the early 1920s. Charles C. Manley and Troy V. Allen were the proprietors and barbers of this location. The Howard Club was run out of the 6 Federal St. location. The club was used for illegal gambling and poker games and had been raided a few times. Manley was arrested in a couple of these raids. A pool hall also operated at this location. Fights would often break out at the club.

Allen’s Barbershop was later located at 43 N. Howard St. in Akron. Troy V. Allen was the proprietor and a barber at this location. He was also a former member of the Akron Boxing Commission.
