Benjamin Drugs

Benjamin Drugs was located on the northeast corner of East 55th Street and Central Avenue in the Majestic Hotel. It opened in the late 1910s and was owned by brothers Jacob (Jack), Mort, and Nathan Benjamin. It later opened a second location at 3003 Central Avenue. Eventually known as Benjee’s, it won the respect of African Americans through its dedication to hiring and serving without regard to race.
