Carnegie Hotel

Carnegie Hotel was located at 6803 Carnegie Avenue. Hotel owners Earnestine and Eddie Eadie sold their interests in the sixty-room hostelry in 1947 to Alonzo Wright, who also operated the Majestic Hotel on East 55th Street. The former manager of the Blue Grass Club and Mason’s Farm took charge of operating the hotel’s Blue Room and Cocktail Lounge at that time. Wright sold the hotel in 1961.

Carnegie Hotel appears in the Green Book in 1946, 1950, and 1954-1967 at 6803 Carnegie under the category Hotels. It also appears erroneously at 6903 Carnegie in 1947 and 1949.

  1. My father was a bellhop at the Carnegie Hotel, to my best recollection, between the years 1955 and 1962. He met and served many of the then noted black entertainers and athletes who came to Cleveland.

  2. I remember Reverend Sam used to preach from there. I would hear his broadcast on the radio every Sunday.
