Check-Inn-Lunch

Check-Inn-Lunch was a restaurant also known as Check Inn Café, located at 691 Edgewood Avenue in Akron. The first found mention of Check Inn Café was an ad listed in the Call & Post in 1937 for “delicious sandwiches [and] soft drinks.”

The structure at 691 Edgewood Avenue contained seven rooms and one store, and the rooms were rented out as apartments. Some local social groups hosted events at the Check Inn Café, such as a card party held by the Neighborhood Club No. 10 in 1936. In 1940 the Women of Wesley Temple sponsored a rummage sale at the location.
