Parisian Beauty Shoppe

The Parisian Beauty Shoppe was located on North Howard Street, Akron’s principal Black commercial street in the mid-20th century. It was owned by Lauretta Marshall. By Christmas Eve in 1936, the Parisian Beauty Shoppe had adopted the tagline, “Our Styles Are The Very Latest.” In 1938, Mrs. Marshall served as the President of the Akron chapter of the Ohio Beauticians Association. She was also known for holding successful community events for charity fundraising events such as The Style Show that she hosted on behalf of the American Legion in Cleveland.
